AMD EPYC & Instinct Energy Efficiency

AMD 30x25 goal: 30× energy efficiency improvement by 2025 vs. 2020. By 2024 achieved ~28.3× using Instinct MI300X with EPYC 9575F. EPYC 9654: 2,000 VMs on 11 servers use up to 29% less power than 17 Intel Xeon 8490H servers. EPYC 2.1–2.7× better efficiency (ssl_ops/watt) vs. Intel Xeon. Holistic approach: chiplet architectures, 3.5D CoWoS packaging, HBM3 (192GB, 5.2 TB/s), software optimizations. Outperforms ARM-based solutions on industry benchmarks.
