Microsoft aims for carbon negative by 2030. Contracted 34 GW of renewable energy across 24 countries as of September 2024. Scope 1 and 2 emissions decreased 6.3% from 2020 baseline. Deploying closed-loop liquid cooling in water-scarce regions (Phoenix, Wisconsin), projected to save 125 million liters of water per year per site. Project Natick underwater data center achieved PUE of 1.12. Six Circular Centers reuse and repurpose hardware. 20-year agreement with Constellation for 835 MW of zero-carbon nuclear; partnership with Helion Energy on fusion research.
